As there are many on the waiting list, I wonder: Is anyone interested in an lightweight "old-school" BarCamp somewhere in the Berlin area? We may just set up a wiki and find a location. Personally, I also think that the event has become much too big (although, it's clear that many of those registered will not appear).

I don't think that many will not come. And having visited really big BarCamps (600+ in Riga, Latvia) and smaller ones (50 or less), I prefer the big ones. If the location is right the people will anyhow split up a bit and so you just have lots and lots of small camps inside the big one. it still is open and you can switch somewhere else... Besides, if the camp is big, there are more people for tiny niche topics, so everybody gets even more of what they want...
